“Tell me, and I’ll forget; show me, and I may remember; involve me, and I’ll understand.”
The same zest was soaked on Saturday, 28/10/23, by the language teachers of Vydehi School of Excellence. They welcomed the pioneer author, Ms Kiran Misra, among them, as they explored how classroom debates can enhance learning, providing students with a deeper understanding of the subjects. Under the pristine guidance of Ms Misra, the teachers actively engaged themselves in not one or two but over 20 vivid debate modules.
The session was fuming with energy and creative ideas infused by the author herself. The workshop assisted the faculty in exploring how classroom debates can enhance learning by promoting engagement, critical thinking, effective communication, empathy, and self-confidence. Through classroom debates, we equip students with the skills they need to continue learning throughout their lives. It’s a powerful approach that resonates with the old adage, “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.” It was a takeaway for the entire faculty and the workshop ended with vote of thanks.
