As educators, it’s imperative to continuously refine our approaches to teaching reading, ensuring that we address the diverse needs of learners and equip them with the necessary skills to navigate a world increasingly reliant on literacy.
Language teachers of Vydehi School of Excellence got an opportunity to attend a workshop on importance of Reading conducted by the Scholastic India Pvt Ltd, in Bengaluru on Saturday 03rd February 2024. The workshop was headed by Ms. Tahsin Chacko, Regional Manager, Scholastic India Pvt Ltd. Through this reading program we were introduced to Short Reads, a program newly introduced by Scholastics. This is indeed a fun card-based reading program for students that leads to academic success. It also provides a complete resource for teachers aiming to provide comprehensive guidance to enhance literacy instruction across various primary grade levels and learning environments.
Additionally, this program recognizes the importance of ongoing professional growth and collaboration among educators. By providing a supportive learning environment and access to valuable resources, teachers can continually refine their instructional practices and adapt to the evolving needs of their students.
