The sprawling grounds of the VSE, on December 18th and 19th was revivified with the spirit of sportsmanship and vigor of our Vydehi champions on the occasion of Annual Sports Meet 2019 – Finestra Sul Mondo.
The event commenced with the declaration of sports meet open by the venerable Chief Guest Madam Kapaja and Sir Mr.Harjeet Kakkar, CEO – Vydehi School of Excellence.
In a tradition reminiscent of the values and ideals of Olympism, the VSE Sports Day started with a brilliant torch lighting ceremony and with sound of bugles the impressive March Past by the students of all houses, coupled with some stirring marching music by the band had set the tone for the rest the of the event.The students entered into the spirit of occasion in a grand way with the oath being administered by the Sports captain.
Students of pre-primary startled the audience with an elegant welcome display of “flower of Happiness”. Aligning to it, the champions of Primary put forth a mesmerizing Drill along with Globe formation which enthralled the audience with their rhythmic graceful moves.
The ground was painted with colourful shadows with unifying House Drill. The day’s activities included many elegant displays of various formations, gymnastics and martial arts like Kalaripayttu.
The much-awaited track and field events reflected the level of constant practice. As the budding athletes of VSE ran for the finishing line, the school ground reverberated with enthusiastic cheers from the spectators.
The trophies to winners were given away by Ms. Sinia Sajith, the Principal. The merit and participation certificates to the winners were given away by Ms. Manu Joshua Das , the Head Mistress, Parents and Grand Parents.
Indraprasta house won the trophy for the best March Past, Nalanda house bagged the best drill trophy and Indraprasta House received maximum points and took away the Best House trophy.
This process of discovery, no matter how long and exhausting it may pose to be, must help our kids understand that the only way to achieve anything in life, is to build ‘a never give up attitude.’ The day concluded with a Prize Distribution Ceremony for the parents and grandparents who brightened up the event at the end with their flabbergasting performances.
An outstanding closing ceremony saluting the school flag had the students involved in high spirit, sportsmanship and proper respect for each other.
There was an unmistakable air of fun, joy and team spirit in every one’s face. It was a day the students would definitely look back, as they advance towards their bright future.
