Flower Carpet Competition for Grades VIII to XI

“Happiness radiates like the fragrance from a flower and draws all good things towards you…” Vydehi School of Excellence became a part of a wonderful Flower Carpet Competition on 24th of August, 2017 before the auspicious day of Ganesh Chaturthi. The floral carpet, known as Onapookkalam or just Pookkalam, is made out of the gathered blossoms with several varieties of flowers of differing tints pinched up into little pieces to design and decorate patterns on floor like a flower mat. Lamps were arranged in the middle or edges. It was a team work who accomplish it with a delicate touch and a personal artistic sense of tone and blending. The pookkalam is similar to Rangoli which is made of powders of various colors and is popular in North India. Tradition of decorating Pookalam is extremely popular in Kerala.

In VSE it was organised as an Inter house competition where the students of four houses from classes 8-11 namely Indraprastha, Takshila, Nalanda and Avantika were the participants of the Competition. Teachers and Students both had too much fun in making beautiful designs with multi-coloured flowers and petals. Indraprastha stood First, Nalanda second and Takshila got the third position. Overall it was a great time.
