“An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind”: Mahatma Gandhi
Vydehi School of Excellence hosted the Grade 5 CCA competition, “The Power of peace: Public Speaking ” on 17th October 2024. Inspired by the theme of Ahimsa (Non-Violence), participants delivered powerful speeches, demonstrating remarkable confidence, clarity, and conviction. With sections competing for top honors, judges evaluated performances based on relevance, fluency, and timeliness. The event culminated in the announcement of section-wise and overall winners.
This competition provided a wonderful opportunity for students to express their thoughts in front of their peers, fostering both confidence and camaraderie. As each child took the stage, they shared their understanding of Ahimsa, emphasizing how non-violence is not just a passive action but a powerful way to create harmony in our everyday lives.
The participants spoke about the inspiring teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and discussed how small acts of kindness and patience can make a big difference in building a peaceful world. Listening to each other’s speeches sparked meaningful discussions among the students, making the event both engaging and thought-provoking. Every child’s effort was celebrated, with winners selected based on clarity, creativity, and emotion. However, the real success of the event was the lesson learned by everyone – peace starts with us, and Ahimsa is a way of life. This enriching activity not only enhanced the children’s public speaking skills but also nurtured values of empathy, tolerance, and respect. We are proud of all the participants for their enthusiasm and heartfelt messages, and we look forward to seeing these young voices continue to promote peace.
