“To sit in the shade on a fine day, and look upon verdure, is the most perfect refreshment.” —Jane Austen

The environment is the foundation of life on Earth. It provides us with essential resources, and it supports the biodiversity that sustains ecological balance. However, human activities have increasingly put pressure on the environment, leading to pollution, climate change, deforestation, and loss of biodiversity. World Environment Day serves as a reminder of our collective responsibility to protect and preserve our environment for current and future generations. Each year, World Environment Day adopts a specific theme to focus on a critical environmental issue. The theme for this year focuses on land restoration, desertification, and drought resilience under the slogan “Our land. Our future.” World Environment Day is celebrated in over 100 countries, with governments, organizations, and individuals participating in various activities. Schools and communities often organize events to engage children and adults alike in learning about and contributing to environmental protection. As we celebrate World Environment Day, it is essential to recognize that environmental protection is an ongoing effort. The challenges we face are complex and require sustained commitment and collaboration. By continuing to raise awareness, advocate for policy changes, and adopt sustainable practices, we can create a healthier and more sustainable planet for ourselves and future generations. We can say, World Environment Day is a crucial reminder of the importance of our natural environment and the need for concerted efforts to protect it. It is a day for reflection, education, and action, emphasizing that every effort counts in the global movement towards environmental sustainability. Let us all take this opportunity to renew our commitment to the environment and work together to ensure a greener, cleaner, and more vibrant planet.

Our Grade 6 students expressed their imagination and their creative thinking in the form of art on the Topic, “Botanical Brilliance”. As a Co-curricular activity.

Students collected a variety of leaves from different trees and plants. They applied paint on one side of the leaf and pressed it onto the paper to create leaf prints. The students experimented using different colours and arranged the leaves to create beautiful patterns and designs. This activity not only enhanced their imaginative skills but also helped them to be creative with the help of minimal products from nature.
