TOPIC: “National Sports Day भावना for peace and unity”
“The more difficult the victory, the greater the happiness in winning.” Pele
National Sports Day (29th August) is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of
hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand Singh. This day is aimed at spreading awareness about
the importance of physical activities and sports in life.
The students of 6J, 6K, and 6L conducted a special assembly on August 19th , 2022 based on the topic “National Sports Day भावना for peace and unity”. The Assembly started with a
heart-warming welcome speech followed by a beautiful prayer song, thought, pledge and
news. Students gave a heartfelt tribute to the legendary hockey player, Major Dhyan Chand
Singh, through a PowerPoint presentation. Students participated in a talk show to discuss how sport is a powerful means to build bridges, bring people together, and shape peace, as it builds friendships and draws lines of respect across borders. Students presented a beautiful, thoughtful skit with a powerful message: “Sport is important, as is academic education.” The assembly ended with a vibrant and mesmerizing dance performance of “Waka Waka” by the students, followed by a vote of thanks and the National Anthem.
It was an informative assembly. The students performed with full enthusiasm. The efforts of the students were highly appreciable. The audience and the parents were enthralled by the impeccable performance of the students.
