Green Diwali

Diwali is the festival that brings good luck to all. The lighted diya should not only enlighten the environment but also has to shed the darkness of poverty and ignorance. However, the question is how far we are able to understand and appreciate the fact that we are moving away from the real essence of the fiesta of light? The festival slowly but surely is becoming a problem for the environment all over India due to the carelessness and heedlessness of the general people around. It is high time that we should recognize the predicament and to give awareness to our society. It’s our responsibility to maintain and uphold a better and safe society for ourselves. Keeping this in mind the students of Grade VIII B of Vydehi School Of Excellence on 16th of October, 2017, conducted Special Assembly on the topic “Green Diwali” to spread the message of cracker free Diwali and to make it greener and more environmental friendly. The Assembly commenced with Lamp lighting session, followed by Prayer, thought for the day, skit, dances, songs and an enthusiastic interactive session. The programme spread the message of celebrating a cracker- free Diwali and this was a wonderful celebration just before the day of commencement of Diwali Vacation. The Principal and audience appreciated the assembly, applauded the performers and encouraged students to celebrate a pollution-free Diwali.
