Doctors’ Team (Dr. Sushila, Dr. Abhirami, Dr. Sunitha, Dr. Bhavika) from Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences Conducted a Workshop on Health and Nutrition for Primary Grade Students as on 23-09-2014.
The main aim was to give awareness to our school children, and through them their families and society as a whole.
Futhermore, education is a key social determinant of health. It makes a significant contribution to people’s understanding of health risks and how to avoid them.
The Workshop shed light on topics like
- Healthy Foods.
- Junk Foods.
- Maintaining a Balanced Diet.
- Importance of Physical Activities.
- Reduction on Sugar and Sodium intake.
It was an interactive session, where children had their doubts clarified.
The workshop offered children invaluable health and nutritional advice and addressed common diet and nutrition myths.
Students did understand the long-term health effects of excessive consumption of salt, fat and sugar and they have learned to think critically about attractive food packaging and television advertisements.
