Art education, contributes a lot for an individual in a society. Art is a language that communicates through usage of visual images. Literacy also includes the major portion of the ability to understand and read visual images. Vydehi School understands the importance of art education and hence firmly holds on to the belief that development of a child depends on the literacy and intellectual abilities on visual as well as performing arts.
Performing arts play an important role in the mental growth of a child and we have given enough space for performing arts in our school. We have two dance teachers in our school to lead the department of performing arts. One teacher teaches the intricacies of classical dance while the other teaches folk dance. Vydehi School of Excellence has three music teachers for teaching Western, Hindustani, and Classical music to the students.
Music plays a very major part in the development of a child beginning from early childhood. Recent studies have even proven that music can improve both pro social behavior as well as problem solving skills of a young child. Music making can even improve the ability of cooperation among the children. The school realizes the importance of music and its impact on a child and hence, several programs on music are conducted in the school. Our students have several records of winning many prizes of music and singing in interschool fests. They have won the ‘best costumes’ prize in a dance competition that took place in Dean Academy, Whitefield, Bangalore. There will be performance of our students in all our special events. The teachers co ordinates the events in such a way that it provides the maximum support to the children. This in turn enables the children to display their talents.
Art and craft activities lead to a higher level of imagination skills in the students. Art and craft is often mentioned together but the fact is that art is unstructured whereas craft is a structured activity. Through craft works, children can express themselves, their emotions and their dreams as well. Our school provides excellent sections on art and craft training. Art also strengthens a student academically, making literacy as well as mathematical concepts easier.
Clay modeling is another section the school focuses in imparting to the children. It helps the children to be self expressive and also moulds their ability to concentrate. Apart from it, clay modeling is also a stress relieving activity for kids and adults.
Pottery is a creative work that involves deeper concentration and for years pottery therapy has been done for curing of depression as well as bipolar disorder.
Vydehi School offers Music, Art and Craft activities along with clay modeling and pottery works to its precious students.
